Leguminosae. Zones 7b-10. This extremely slow-growing Texas native is well worth the wait. It ultimately becomes a small tree or large dense shrub with shiny rounded leaflets and highly fragrant dark violet-blue flowers in erect spikes in late spring to summer, followed by attractive silvery pods containing inedible bright red seeds. Very drought tolerant. Butterfly attractor. Needs excellent drainage in full sun. A Buddleia would be proud to have blooms like this plant.
